There is no such thing as a "professional" bassoon reed or a "beginner's" bassoon reed - just different makes and strengths.
Mass produced, "cheap" bassoon reeds will never give you the best quality of sound. You will be dissatisfied with them and dump them - which makes them more expensive than a top quality, hand-made bassoon reed.

Hi Peter,
I'm not sure what that information is - perhaps just received
email confirmation? BTW - I LOVED the reed that I got over
the past week. Wondering does Dr. Downing make contrabassoon
reeds? If so, does she make various strengths or just one type and
what might the price be of one? I also would like to order two more
bassoon reeds as well.
