The author, Peter
Moore, himself a victim of initial poor teaching, understands fully
the problems of overcoming faults. With over 50 years experience
of learning, playing and teaching the clarinet, Peter has researched
and developed his highly successful teaching method.
Peter's unique clarinet
method can be used alongside any tutor book. Standard clarinet
tutor books only teach music. They do
not show you how to play the clarinet properly.
Many of them get the basics completely wrong.
Parents asked us to
help them to guide their children but they did not have any musical
knowledge so we wrote this book to help them.
Playing
the Clarinet is Easy! shows you how to play and teach the
clarinet effortlessly and correctly with pages
of photographs, many in full colour.
The normally accepted method of teaching
the clarinet is seriously flawed.
If you have been using the standard tutor
books they ALL suffer from the same faults.
1) NONE of them show you how to form or
develop a good clarinet embouchure - the most important technique
of all.
2) ALL of them show
a "dumbed-down baby-talk" fingering method to start with.
3) ALL of them
teach the bottom register to start - in some cases that is ALL they
teach. .. We
say - and prove - that this is the WORST way to teach or learn the
clarinet.
4) NONE of them show you how to tongue correctly.
3) NONE of them show you how to hold the
clarinet correctly
5) NONE of them show you how to change registers
correctly from the beginning. Some of them
do eventually show the correct fingering - BUT FAR TOO LATE.
6) All of them are guilty of creating a
problem with "crossing the break"
7) NONE of them show you how to play the
altissimo register easily.
8) ALL of them are guilty of making the
clarinet difficult play.
Whether you are a
beginner or an old hand, Playing the Clarinet
is Easy! shows CORRECT clarinet basics - from making the
first sound to playing the highest notes. Low notes, clarion
notes, altissimo notes - all this with detailed photographs
of correct fingering positions.
How to develop fluent fingering technique with no "break"
problems.
We explain fully and clearly
how to form and develop a good clarinet embouchure; how to do
legato and staccato tonguing; selecting a reed and advice on choosing
a suitable mouthpiece.
We can promise you that, if you have the courage to follow our
method, you will be utterly amazed at the results you can achieve.
You will be playing smoothly and confidently from bottom E to Altissimo
E or even G in weeks, NOT YEARS. "Crossing the break"
is never a problem as "the break" doesn't exist in our
method. Only in tutor books from the ark.
Unique advice on how to use those "pinkie keys". The clarinet
has 4 keys for each little finger which can be very confusing. Readers
have asked us how to use them - so we have added a new section devoted
solely to little fingers.
No other tutor gives you so much REAL information
on how to play the clarinet.

George Seamans was the clarinet tutor of Santaluces High School
Band in Florida. He used our Clarinettist's Technique Doctor to
help his students. Here is his email to us:
Dear Peter,
I am amazed at the fact that I can play the high register so easily.
You are so correct in your method.
So that you understand: - I have been instructing high school students
with no private instruction and very limited ability so that it
was necessary to un-teach their habits while at the same time guiding
them with your method. It has been successful in that they have
grasped the concept with a few exceptions.
When they experience the ease of attaining high notes it should
erase any doubts in their minds as to applying your approach with
a more concentrated effort.
A friend of the band director teaches in a private elementary school
and has asked me to work with his clarinet students. It will be
a mixture of new and one year students........
With sincere thanks.
George
